PV Value™ is the result of several years of research by Solar Power Electric™, Sandia National Laboratories and the Appraisal Institute on the energy value that can be produced by a photovoltaic or PV array.
Using the appraisal industry's income approach, PV Value™ is an energy value algorithm that calculates the remaining present value of energy produced over the module warranty timeframe, taking into consideration local energy costs, local energy cost escalation rates, module degradation and operation and maintenance expenses.
It is designed to be used by real estate appraisers, mortgage underwriters, credit analysts, pace program administrators, real estate salespersons, real property assessors, insurance claims adjusters, and PV industry sales staff.
The current version 1.0 uses an Excel® Spreadsheet and works with Excel® 2007 and 2010.
A new release is anticipated on or before September 1st 2012.
Part of the research and the creation of the PV Value™ spreadsheet Version 1.0 was paid for in part by a U.S. Department of Energy Grant by the DOE Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy.
